Shaking Off The Blah's

Man... making changes in your life is always possible but it isn't particularly easy. I have been fascinated by how completely unconscious I was about my eating habits. I thought I geberally speaking ate well. The truth is I was not aware of how much sugar filled foods and processed foods were in my daily eating habits. That coupled with nicotine made for a very unhealthy diet.

I have been eating pretty well now by slowly incorporating changes into my diet instead of doing a drastic shift. I am shocked by how little I ate fresh fruit and vegetables. And using my juicer has made it so much easier to drink vegetables raw that I would not usually want to eat raw or cooked. Who knew I would love raw beet juice frsh from my juicer?

Today, I accepted that I have to just give up cigarettes cold turkey and remove myself from those triggers that make it easy for me to slip. I went home and had no desire to smoke when with my family but as soon as I get back to Los Angeles, I found it impossible to be in situations with many of my friends who smoke almost incessantly. The smell was just too overwhelming. Now I am ready to stop and already contacted a few of my chainsmoking buddies and let them know what I was doing and that I couldn't be around them until I could be around them while they smoked. Their smoking is frankly none of my business. I am not about to ask anyone not to smoke because I am around. That only creates drama and leaves me vulnerable to situations I don't wish to be in. I am on a green tea smoking buster session avoiding going out for at least 24 hours drinking as much green tea I can to get me through. Hopefully I can flush out as much nicotine as possible and get myself exercising like a madman.

My attempts to quit feel like a rollercoaster ride but I am committed to quitting and with a little perseverance success will be mine.

My hope is that with no more cigarettes, a healthy diet and the increased exercise I will finally start seeing noticeable changes to my body shape and overall fitness level.
